Researchers launch a crowdfunding campaign to reduce the time taken to achieve scientific improvements

The Society for the improvement of Science (SACSIS), a non-profit organization of Spanish scientists, has launched a crowdfunding campaign. The goal is to enhance their negative results publication system, in order to save researchers time and money when searching for new treatments or cures for a wide variety of diseases.
PRLog - June 7, 2015 - Spanish researchers from the non-profit organization The Society for the Improvement of Science (SACSIS), whose president is Dr. David Alcantara Parra (scientist and PhD in Chemistry), have launched a crowdfunding campaign to collect enough money to strengthen a publication system focused on scientific negative results.

The campaign will produce several benefits:  it will enable the faster, safer development of new drugs, the discovery of new sources of sustainable energy, and  technological and economic improvement in all areas of Science. This will in turn increase people's long term quality of life.

The specific objective of this campaign is to promote and improve ‘The All Results Journals’, a set of 4 scientific journals with Total Open Access format focused on publishing negative results and published by SACSIS. Developing an editorial system of negative results will bring with it a significant saving of effort and money for scientists, who will be able to avoid repeating unsuccessful experiments that have already been conducted.

Thanks to ‘The All Results Journals’, researchers have free access to a huge amount of experiments and studies which gave negative results, and this allows them to focus on finding faster solutions to the many problems in our society.

Through this crowdfunding campaign, SACSIS hopes to collect 32000€, in four 8000€ stages. The money will be invested in improving and growing the four specialised journals: Biology and Biomed, Chemistry, Physics and Nanotechnology. This will be achieved by adding new members to the Scientific Advisory Boards, who evaluate the quality of the journals, participating in more public conferences, improving their website design, offering new services to members and increasing international reach, amongst others things.

"More than 60% of scientific research efforts obtain negative results. We must avoid researchers wasting their time repeating failed investigations so that they can prioritize scientific investigations for the discovery of new drugs and treatments," says Dr. Alcantara.

SACSIS’ researchers highlight that ‘reaching our economic goals is essential if we are to improve future research, thus saving scientists’ time and the public’s money- two commodities that are in short supply these days’.

This campaign is hosted by the Safari Crowdfunding platform and will be running for 30 days. Moreover, it includes exciting rewards for backers, depending on the donation. For further information, please follow this link:

About  SACSIS and ‘The All Results Journal’

SACSIS was founded in 2010 by Dr. David Alcántara with the purpose of promoting, improving and developing science, as well as optimising public funding for scientific research. The staff of SACSIS—a group of  experts in science and technology—count on the help of many volunteers who regularly cooperate and make our work possible.

SACSIS is the publisher of The All Results Journal, a set of  4 scientific journals that publish negative results obtained in Biology, Physics, Nanotechnology and Chemistry research. The first edition of The All Results Journals was launched in 2010, thanks to the support of SACSIS, which became its publishing house. The Editor in Chief of the 4 journals is Dr. David Alcántara, who is in charge of all the editorial processes and the management of the journals, as well as promoting the project on social networks.

The All Results Journals are the first negative results journals with Total Open Access format- there are no fees whatsoever either to publish or read the articles included on the journals.
